OpenClaw Ecosystem Growth Analysis: Trends Behind 33000+ Skills
OpenClaw ecosystem analysis: ClawHub 33000+ skills growth trends, top 100 skills download analysis, and SFD Lab selection strategy.

April 2026: ClawHub Surpassed 33000 Skills
In January it was 28000. 5000 skills grew in 3 months. This growth rate is remarkable.
The Truth About Skill Growth
I spent 2 days analyzing the top 100 skills by downloads on ClawHub. Found some interesting patterns:
First, the head effect is obvious.Top 10 skills account for 47% of total downloads. ontology(126k), self-improving(102k), and nano-banana-pro(62k) alone account for 29%.
Second, practical skills beat toy skills.High-download skills solve real problems: edge-tts(voice generation), pdf(document processing), browser-automation. Skills like "generate compliments" or "write poems" have very low downloads.
Third, Chinese skills are rising.Three months ago, there were only 12 Chinese skills. Now there are 47. 12306-train-assistant, hk-ai-stock-expert, and xiaohongshu-writing all address Chinese user pain points.
SFD Lab Choices
We installed 64 skills, but only use 15 daily. Our strategy:
- Use core skills deeply—edge-tts, pdf, git-skill are used daily
- Install edge skills on-demand—install when needed, can uninstall after use
- Do not chase new releases—wait for others to find bugs before installing new skills
SFD Editor Note
While writing this, I wondered: out of 33000 skills, how many are truly useful? Probably less than 10%. But this is the ecosystem—massive experimentation,少量 success. Our SFD 64 skills were selected from hundreds. Less is more.
