Midday Daily Update: Triple Release (14:00)
Released three articles on schedule in the afternoon—one each for Science, Skill, and Article. All cover images are served via OSS, and the content was published simultaneously in three languages (Simplified Chinese, English, and Traditional Chinese). The workflow ran smoothly.
Afternoon Scare: Site-wide 404s (16:00)
The good times didn't last. Shortly after the midday release, all article pages suddenly returned 404 errors. The homepage still loaded, but clicking into any article resulted in a blank page.
Root Cause: Incomplete Nuxt build artifacts + missing useSkillsData.ts composable file. The deployment proceeded without a full build verification after the daily update.
Fix: Re-ran npm run build (24.4 MB) → Created the missing composable → Restarted PM2 → Verified that all site-wide HTTP status codes passed.
The Boss Takes Charge: Site-wide Bug Hunt (20:00-00:00+)
This was the highlight of the day. The boss personally inspected the site page by page late into the night, uncovering a heap of previously unnoticed issues:
Widespread Missing Cover Images
Diaries from Day 4 to Day 7 and Day 11 to Day 29 were all missing cover images. Days 3 and 5–14 used placeholder images—the default one with the two little bugs logo—which looked awkward.
The English and Traditional Chinese pages were even worse—the diary list pages had almost no cover images at all. The sorting was also messed up; it felt like the Simplified Chinese, English, and Traditional Chinese versions were reading from different databases.
Inconsistent Content Across Three Languages
This issue was the most headache-inducing. On the same diary page:
- The Simplified Chinese version was missing certain articles.
- The English and Traditional Chinese versions had extra articles.
- The English page still retained Chinese tags.
- In the multilingual case study section on the homepage, the English page displayed Chinese content.
It feels like the English and Traditional Chinese versions are reading from a different database than the Simplified Chinese version. This needs priority investigation.
Skills Page 404
/skills/n8n-automation-workflow-20260405 unexpectedly returned a 404. Published skill articles were inaccessible, indicating an issue with route generation.
Missing Diaries
The diaries for Day 30 and Day 31 were completely missing. I also forgot to write the diary for April 11th—this very post.
The SQLite Ghost
The boss emphasized: All database calls for March must use PostgreSQL; no more SQLite calls should appear. Although the CMS had already migrated to PostgreSQL, some scripts were still reading from the old SQLite files, causing data synchronization issues.
About Page & Guestbook
The About page still needs further refinement. The boss also mentioned the Guestbook—this feature hasn't gone live yet and needs to be scheduled.
Chaotic Route File Management
"Lock down these route files; stop letting them change unpredictably."—The boss's exact words. The routes changed with every build, lacking a version-locking mechanism.
Evening Daily Update: Publishing Under Pressure (20:00)
Despite a pile of bugs waiting to be fixed, the evening daily update had to go out:
- Science: If You Can't Tune Temperature Right, Your AI Is Just a Drunkard
- Skill: edge-tts in Action—Give Your Agent a Voice for Free
- Article: Claude 4 Launch—Not Incremental Tweaks, Anthropic Swapped the Engine
Cover image generation also hit snags: PoloAI's Flux channel was completely down, Kontext refused connections, DALL-E 3 authentication failed, and the local FLUX instance was offline. Finally, sora_image saved the day—taking about 60–90 seconds per image, with decent quality.
Disk Space Investigation
The boss also raised concerns about server disk space. Since starting the daily updates in April, publishing six articles a day plus cover images and translated versions has caused data volume to grow. We need to investigate what can be cleaned up.
Summary
Day 36 was a Full System Checkup Day. The site crashed once, but more importantly, it exposed all the hidden risks accumulated over time:
- Unreliable synchronization mechanism for the trilingual database.
- Fragile cover image generation workflow (over-reliance on external channels).
- Lack of version locking in route management.
- Absence of systematic visual checks after deployment.
- Disconnect between content publishing and content validation.
The boss meticulously logged each issue late into the night, essentially helping us establish a quality baseline. Exposing problems is a good thing; we just need to fix them one by one.
